I took a 50 minute walk with my mother (plus her walker) in Calgary. Unfortunately I didn't have the presence of mind to take a photo. At 93+ she still goes out every good-weather day. She attributes her long life to walking and eating lots of vegetables!
We have sad news to report. My brother Bill (3 years younger than me) passed away on July 18th at home. It had been 4 years since his major cancer surgery (esophageal). I realized just now that he and Russ approached their illnesses and all the tests and treatments in a similar way. Bill continued to live life as full as he could right up to mid May when he was transferred to the palliative care team. I never really heard him complain; he was positive and hopeful. He was one of the driving forces behind the TransCanada Trail in the North Whiteshell Provincial Park- Betula Lake segment. The lake was one of his real loves. We celebrated the 50th anniversary of the cottage last summer. He always lived in the Winnipeg area so had been going there all those 50 years. We've had numerous opportunities to use the trail on our visits to the lake.
